Who is: Brad Gubanich?

Hi and thank you for checking out my personal website. As you have probably figured out I am web developer. I live in Spring City, PA, just outside Philadelphia. I'm currently looking for employment as a web developer or programmer. In the mean time I work for myself as a web consultant providing web design and devleopment for local civic and church groups.

I would have never thought I would be a web programmer when I was in high school. That was until my parents got Prodigy in 1992 and thats when I got my first taste of the Internet. To think back then how I would sit back and have to wait for my blazing fast 9600 baud modem to connect to websites. How far we've come. Anyway, I knew I always wanted to be in some facet of communications. I figured I would get into television and film production. It was this I went to college for in hopes to someday owning my own television station or production company.

But then in 1996 as a Graduate Assistant for the Electronic Media Department at Kutztown University, I was asked to learn HTML and build a website for the Electronic Media Department's Undergraduate and Gradute Schools. I eagerly learned basic HTML and built my first website. Theirs were the first department to have a website on the universities main website. Soon after I made my own personal website and I realized that this is what I wanted to do for a living.

Since then I've gotten more programming languages under my belt. All my programming background is in Classic ASP, VBScript and JavaScript. I'm currently learning ASP.NET and SQL Server in hopes to make myself more marketable in the .NET arena. I also have extensive experience in Section 508c Web Accessability standards and procedures. Unfortunately, the private sector hasn't latched onto the web accessability push as much as the federal government has since June 25, 2001 when it required Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. I am well versed in these standards and guidelines and have published 2 operation manuals on web accessability instruction and development for web developers as well as department-wide standards operating prodecures on Section 508 compliancy.

Besides that, I'm a Jack Of All Trades you can say. I can do anything from sewing dresses from patterns for my daughters to installing brakes on my family's cars. I love woodworking and cabinetry. I'm very active in my church and local Kiwanis Group. Come Christmas time, I get to do something I love very much and that is play Santa Claus. Something I have done fo the last 24 years old since I was 15 years old. I'm the official Santa Claus of Phoenixville, PA and ride in the yearly Christmas Parade to light the town Christmas Tree. I do rent myself out for private events like company holiday parties, etc.
